Replacement Window and Door Industry
For many people in Florida, their home is the largest investment that they own. In addition to what they paid when they purchased it, they’ve invested time and money in upkeep and maintenance to protect that investment.
The fact that most Americans take great pride in how well they maintain their home is the main reason that home improvement expenditures in the United States now stand in excess of $300 billion annually. What’s the state and direction of the window and door industry in 2021 and beyond? Every research firm measures the fenestration industry differently. Some, such as IBISWorld, estimate the size of the US fenestration market to be roughly $12.4 billion in 2021. Freedonia, a market research firm in Cleveland , Ohio, for example estimated that by 2021, the window and door industry would hit $34 billlion. Key Media & Research estimates the North American window and door industry market to be around $23.5 billion in 2021, “including the purchase and installation of windows and doors for residential construction and replacement.” No matter the source or how you measure the market, the fenestration industry in the United States and around the world is growing. Depending on the source and the research firm, estimates range between 4-5 percent year-over-year.
Most homeowners are aware of the rising costs of heating and cooling their home. The modern replacement window is replete with options that meet the needs of homeowners in a time of ever-increasing energy and maintenance costs. It’s up to the replacement window and door professional to evaluate, along with the homeowner, their needs and develop options to meet those needs.
Department of Energy
“Windows can be one of your home’s most attractive features. Windows provide views, day-lighting, ventilation, and solar heating in the winter. Unfortunately, they can also account for over 25% of your heating bill and upwards of 40% of your cooling bill.”
Architectural Digest
“When you are shopping for windows, remember they provide much more than light and air. Windows can set the tone for a room and are a significant design element in your home.”
